Hurricane Irene and Nightly News. Two firsts.

So now with the hurricane Irene come and gone, I can tell a bit how exciting it was. Sure - it wasn't all fun and spectacle: the speed of the flooding waters in Bound Brook, NJ, where I was sent to shoot, but it was a first one for me. Hurricanes, I learned, deserve to be feared, and it's best to hide when one's about to hit. On the exciting side, the footage I shot was turned into a lead story on Nightly News with Brian Williams. And that made me smile. That was a first for me as well.

Dateline goes to Moscow...

I worked on this Dateline story last fall. We went to Moscow to visit some of the places Vanya/John has most vivid flashbacks about. While I didn't shoot most of the story, I worked as an AP and shot some b-roll, some of which eventually made it into the final cut. The story of The Boy from Baby House 10 will air this Sunday at 7 pm on NBC.

This event was a true fusion of fashion and technology: designer Derek Lam teamed up with Ebay to produce a collection of 16 dresses. What's the cool part? Well, shoppers can vote on their favorites at dereklam.ebay.com, and the five winning styles will be announced March 1. Thus - you can decide what's going to be made. Five winning dresses will then be available for sale on EBay in May. I really enjoyed shooting this event - exciting and attitude-free - it was a cherry on top of my Fashion Week experience.

The Food Tour of West Village in NYC

Another segment for travel series for MSNBC.com - the food tour of Greenwich in New York City. I went on it, and there are quite a few culinary gems. I especially recommend the Sake & Soy restaurant, even if you don't like vegetarian cuisine, this one WILL suprise you.

This piece examines how wine lovers adjust their palates for the fruit of the vine during an economic recession. This was shot in December of 2008, and is one of my first pieces done as a one-man band.
